Get to know Mitch.
A full-time property investor & developer with a goal to create 100 high-end co-living rooms through my brand, Spaces Co-living.
I started my entrepreneurial journey as a sole trader locksmith straight from School, starting as an apprentice for a local company before becoming fully qualified and venturing out into the world of business aged 23.
My first exposure to the property industry occurred in 2009 when I purchased my first property, a residential home for myself. However, owning the property turned out to be more expensive than expected. To offset the costs, I decided to rent out two of the rooms, which not only helped cover my expenses but also provided a small income. This was the moment when I realised there might be potential in the property market. Locksmithing proved to be challenging, as it lacked recurring income and there was no guarantee of work as most jobs were reactive to lockouts and lock changes! I liked the idea of having a guaranteed income, to provide stability and security, which led me to explore more opportunities in the property sector.
In 2012, I purchased my first investment property, which was a one bed apartment in Portsmouth. Fast forward 10 years I have now gradually built my portfolio to £11 million by 2023. I experienced both gains and losses through stocks and shares investments. However, I decided to invest the available capital I had into property, as this felt more within my control. Between 2012 and 2015, I managed to acquire around 18 off-plan properties in Portsmouth.
Additionally, I established Sicuro UK Ltd, a site security company in 2012 and Urban Life Property Management Ltd, a residential block management company in 2017. My first taste of development came from transforming the loft space of a block of flats owned by my investment company, Legra Investments. This experience, combined with the earnings from Sicuro, Urbanlife, and the BRR (buy, refurbish, rent) strategy, allowed me to acquire 30 single-let properties in Warrington.
“In 2021, I sold Sicuro to a trade buyer & Urbanlife was sold in 2012 to one of our competitors in the industry. This allowed me to go fully into property development and investment and it becoming a sole focus of mine. Since then, I have undertaken multiple Sui Generis HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) conversions, commercial conversions, and new build land developments.”
